Even if it seems like the same exact discussion that happens every winter about the same topic? ;)
Original song and lyrics by "MadWags"

What's with the news these days on the TV and the radio. Can't find the truth amongst the lies. Some talking head that claims to live their life in a better way, says I have to compromise. But now there's something on the rise. Truth has opened up my eyes. There's no running from your dirty lies. You can't avoid the truth. I'll no longer close my eyes.

Is it spring yet.....;D

I have never fished NBAA so I don't know jack sh@t about it...If I was that hung up about the payout of a tournament series I would elect not to fish it...God knows there are plenty of alternatives out there...

Durand Dan

It is a fun trail and hundreds of anglers fish it. Nough said

gterrien

Hahahaha...well said Dan. We are getting 6-10" of snow and cabin fever is setting in, so lets talk NBAA and all their short comings.

Hey, got to admit it is a good read.  Like an addiction.

"Hello, my name is George Terrien and I AM an NBAA director."

"Hi George."

ROI - great post.

Every year I read a post of the same content on this board. It kills me how many anglers get on here and say they can't get the info they are looking for on the NBAA. We have the internet, emails, cell phones, boat shows all available to us to research....and Jim and Jack are always willing to answer any question they can for anglers if you just contact them.

Anyway, at the end of the day it is all about what they bring to the sport, which are affordable tournaments, a great year long trail, a solid classic and in my opinion, a trail where I have met some of the nicest fishermen and women in the state.

Hang in there all, just a couple more months and we can start getting the boat and tackle ready.

Guys think about it, if the Asian carp get into michigan waters, Maybe NBAA can have asian carp tournaments!!! think of the cash Payouts that would be generated from that!!!!! Settle down LGM Just joking, I signed the petition LOL 8)

djkimmel

I've already seen flying carp bowshooting tournaments but do not recall either Jack or Jim saying they were contemplating those. Yet...

I'm betting those payback all the carp you can eat ;D

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Really, if it does happen that they get into our watershed, Bow fishing tournaments could be another branch off, and that would be fun to do!!!   LOL ;D

squid

The big prizes that they do drawings for, are not for free.   Just like the boats....cost $$$$$.

Glad I could help you out there Lip-Rip.  That is also why they sell some of them at the shows.  Helps generate $$ for bigger or more prizes......sometimes.

who pays for them?!!!! And with what revenue!!!!!

Eric

Different winter, same topic, same content.

I'll share my thoughts.  Why not.

I've only fished NBAA tournaments a couple of times.  Why not.  Because I choose not to.  I have too many conflicts to fish an entire trail to be able to qualify for the classics.  So I choose not to pay what I feel are kind of high membership fees, and rather low ramp paybacks.  If I was able to fish more of them and be able to fish for that many boats, not to mention the big bass drawings that are happening this weekend, I would be all over it.  If you look at the big picture and see what all of your opportunities are for your money, rather than what you might get that one day, I think NBAA is a very worthwhile venture.  I support NBAA when I can.  I go to the "NBAA day"s at different dealers and shops.  I have NBAA shirts and hats.  I am good friends with LGMOUTH and many other NBAA fishermen.  I go to all of the weigh ins that I can, becasue I like bass tournaments and lots of my friends are there.  But I still don't fish them.

So if you want to fish them, fish them.  If you don't, don't.  Don't sit back and share uninformed opinions.  Questions have been asked, and either answered or directions given as to who can answer them.  Take the initiative to get your question answered, or go away.  Don't just female dog please.  And no short people jokes either.  Might offend Don. ;D

As you probably know I am not afraid to speak my opinion when it comes to payouts so here it goes.... especially against one organization in particular that pays back approximately the same cash value as NBAA but the director gets a Triton demo boat each year and returns it to D and R in far less than pristine condition.

NBAA might keep about 33% at the ramp, which I would normally be against in any trail but....

NBAA gives away like 4 boats a year to classic winners, ATVs and numerous other products during Super-Bass, which is able to exist because of $1 from each big bass entry for the year. They keep $2 from each entry fee and put it in a year end division classic (which I love even thought conflicts have kept me from fishing my own). They put out a magazine, which is not cheap. If you don't make it in the money the first 2-3 places out get tackle packs, what a great way to at least give something away to keep people happy. They have a full-time national director to pay that gets back to everything right away and is available by cell phone all the time, without him at their size the organization would not be in operation.

NBAA seems like a great place to fish on a local level if you ask me.

NBAA pays for them...it is a business.  They put away from products sold at shows, and memberships help pay for these products.

I did not know it would be hard to understand that this is a business, and that NBAA is not here to lose $$.  That is how some other trails have fallen by the way side, if you really think about it.

They put a lot of money out there then had nothing to fall back on....pretty dumb idea if you ask me...but that is MY opinion.

Eric said it best.  "  So if you want to fish them, fish them.  If you don't, don't.  Don't sit back and share uninformed opinions.  "

Want a deal.  Fish the one on one series.  5 events 40.00.  Qualify for the championship ( which is in the same year ).  pay the 50.00 entry fee and fish for a boat.  I think last year was a quadrunner.   Not sure but i think LGMOUTH won both.  I think I will follow him this year If I qualify.
