My buddy and I just signed up today to Marshall in back to back weekends down in Alabama on Guntersville and Pickwick. Should be fun! Went down for the Dixie Duel event this past spring and had a ball. I know, there is a lot of flap about no coanglers, but honestly not having to fish and just relax and participate in all the action with no pressure other than getting good camera shots was a nice change of pace. I get to fish a lot so going down to Marshall is like hiring a guide for two days to learn these big impoundments. Can't beat the price if you're looking to learn some new water. Living in the north, it's not like you have a ton of time when you tow a boat down to learn a piece of water that is tens of miles long. Also the excitement of a big event like that builds an atmosphere that isn't replicated easily.
The early registration opened today at 9:00 am. They appeared to have trouble with their online registration. I tried for quite a while with no success. I then tried to call and got the recording that they were experiencing high phone volumes. I eventually got through and although early phone registration doesn't start until tomorrow, Denette, signed my buddy and I up. We should be ready to go. "It's all about being there baby!" If you like you can check out my blog of our Dixie Duel trip in April on my teardropbass.com blog. The trip is archived at the top of the Daily Blog page. Lots of cool pictures.

I looked at the 2010 schedule, but I can't make any of those lakes this time around.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
