How is your transducer mounted?  I would take a look at it to make sure nothing has changed.  If it is shoot thru and it is starting to break loose and has an air bubble between the transducer and the hull you will have problems.

Over time, transducers do "weaken" as the crystal wears.  How old is your unit?

That's what mine did.  I had all kinds of horrible thoughts about the unit going bad, or at the very least having to replace the transducer.  After some procrastination I finally looked, only to find it completely broken loose.  After a little sanding, a little epoxy, and a few muscle cramps from trying to bend myself into my bilge area, it was good as new.

Yeah... its getting pretty old.  And having a color finder would be a huge upgrade.  I will look it over for a second before replacing, thanks for the help/tips.  For some reason I am more peeed about having to replace the bag.  Gonna have to keep the old bag to put the new bag in.. I guess.

That reminds me... I have to find out whats fraying the line on my baitcasting pole.  A $100 reel turns into a $200 reel quick when your just tossing lures in the open water. If I dont find the problem, look for the post "Free Reel"! :'(
