I have a pair of polarized Native sunglasses that I really like but the tint is gray and not so good in stained water. I have a pair of wal-mart cheapies in amber tint that work better, Does anyone know if someone makes sunglasses that come with different tints in polarized lenses? My Natives came with 4 colors but only the gray is polarized.

smbassman

Try Solar Bat - in the mossback green or Costa Del Mar vermillion.

djkimmel

Doesn't Solar Bat come with interchangeable polarized lens?

I love my Costa vermillion for sight fishing.

What about manufacturers that will make prescription glasses. Over here in the Grand Rapids area I can't find a decent frame that I can get my prescription in.

Randolph Rangers or Decot Hiwyds
Both are shooting glasses that you can get in several frame styles and a million tints, polarized or not. They usually come with 3 sets of lenses. All you'll need is your prescription from the eye doc.
Look past what they want you to see.

Several good sources through mail order although some optometrists can get prescription lens in some frames. I've always been leery of the tints without having a sample first - kind of hard for the first time order with an optometrist. I've used a place in North Carolina several times for my scripts in Costa Del Mar vermillion.

They have some frames - you'll have to call and ask if interested - or can fit many frames you already have. Been a few years since I've called them last (I've been using the same script too long) so I'm not pushing them, just a possible source.

If you do mail order, make sure you have an up-to-date script and include the measurement to the center of your pupils so they get the script ground correctly for best vision.

I picked up some polarized green lenses for my decot hi-wyd sunglasses at the SHOT show in Feb- seems pretty awesome, but have not tried them on the water yet. I have some maui jims in a light pink polarized color thats awesome for overcast days.

wow! thanks for all the help guys, does anyone know where i can get Solar Bats? also what kind of $$?  If they were even money would you go with the Costa Del Mar or Solar Bat? My cousin has the vermilion lens in his Costa's and has had them replaced 2 times, no charge from Costa Del Mar. Does Solar Bat have a similar warranty?

Bulletproof

I got no experience with Solar Bats, but Costa Del Mar does make great glasses.  Like others pointed to, the vermillion is where it's at.  I own a pair of action optics right now, until I lose them anyhow.  I used to own costas in my steelhead days and i can tell you that you cant go wrong with them.  guess I didnt answer your warranty question but just my 02 cents on glasses, costa all the way.....

Yes solar bat has a great warranty program, D&R sports carries them but you can also check online.  I know plenty of guys that use the Costa Del Mar, they make a full line of glasses for sport, for ocean and lakes, just about cover everything...but I prefer to stick to the Solar Bat because they are made by bass fishermen, for bass situations...plus you get great quality for a reasonable price  typically $70-$100 for a great pair, they do sell cheaper models at Wal-Mart and places of the kind but I would stay away from those.

If you are looking for a cheaper pair of glasses though, I INSIST you buy the Cabelas brand for $10-14 bucks they are awesome glasses...plus if you kick them off the boat it doesn't hurt so bad!!

I had a nice long talk with a rep from Costa Del Mar. If you are up here in the north he said because we have more cloudy days up here and the type of water I will be guiding on I should go with the copper lenses. I?m getting the wave 580 in the Brine mobile they are sweet not sure what they retail for though. They are over 200 that much I know I'm going to be getting them for 75 or something like that but I would check them out, it's like having HD glasses the best pair I have ever put on.

sweet deal! can you get another pair for $75???

Bulletproof

I'll take a pair as well.

I swing you another couple bucks as well to sweeten the deal..... ;)

I can only get one pair a year I think so...lol you are welcome to go up to Cabela's and check them out they carry that same frame in the wave 400. I think they only have one style with the 580 lenses Think they are called the Phutom or something like that. The Brine frames fit me very well.

The Costa Vermillion tint in the Fathom Glass are the best sunglasses I've ever owned.  I spent a good deal of $$ last year on Maui Jim's and they aren't nearly as nice as the Costas.  So whenever it is that I lose the Maui's, I'm getting more Costas.  Go with the glass lens.  In the Fathom frame, they're very lightweight and the glass lens makes a huge difference.  Plus it doesn't scratch the way the polycarbonates do.  No matter what kind of scratch resistant coating they claim to have, polycarbs always end up scratching too easily.

Revtro,

Where did you get your Costas with vermillion lenses? According to BPS catalog, Fathoms are not available with vermillion lenses. I have a pair of Costas with the mirror blue lenses and they are great on sunny days but not so good in overcast conditions.

Can you point me in the right direction?
Peace.
