It's been so long since I've been on the water (2 weeks) and I'm "getting the shakes"!  Any news on where or what the fish are doing?  Still up in the mouth, back out in the lake on rock piles, cruising the channels?!  I'm not putting my boat up until there's ice at the ramps.

I know it's a different section but is it worth the trip up to LSC?

Thx,

I haven't been out there since the Big Ten thing, but... it's ALWAYS worth a trip up to LSC ;D

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I think the winds are so bad everyone has been staying home..I haven't seen any Smallmouth reports on any of the sites that I check out...This weekend should be great as far as weather goes and everyone will probably be out bowhunting..

...except me. I will be on Erie this weekend. First trip there this year. I didn't buy a canadian license this year, so I'll only get to fish MI waters. I think I'm going to launch out of Sterling State Park. It's closer to the areas that I want to fish, plus, I have a State Park sticker.

When I was out last wk south of The Light it was mud, couldn't see even a foot and they were dredging the west channel so there was grass everywhere so thick it wa a waste tossing a cb or trap and even fouled up a spinnerbait.

Hope to be able to get out early next week (the wife's home this week "helping" me do home repair, oh joy!)

I am headed out Saturday and Sunday.  Erie............maybe hot pond.  Good article in the Free Press this morning with Gostenik.  The writer went out with him around the lower Detroit River.  Caught largemouth according to the article.  May do that.  The largies are biting around there.  Canadian areas should be good too as long as you stay up the river.

We fished the hot pond for the first time Sat. after going after Walleye in the morning
Tried a few things and ended up fishing a Sinko (watermenlon/Gold) wacky style
Ended up with a 5# 4 or 5 over 4# and a bunch of 3's
THe water was 70 deg's in there and we caught nothing but LM

Usually that is all you will catch are Largies.  Sometimes there are occasional smallies.  I think I have caught more smallies this year in the Hot Pond than I have in the past.  My last trip out I caught 5 smallies all the way up by the discharge.  They were schoolies and chasing shad.  Most of the time smallies are out in the mouth.

Thanx BigDog,

I'll have to try the mouth for SM next time we make it there.
I'm sure the fishing is even better early and before the other 20
boats pitch the same shore line

But we found great numbers of good fish in there

The Hot Pond has been beat to death this year.  I have some guys on my board that have been plastering it too!  It won't be long, and there will be 50 boats in that small area.
