Sounds like Yamaha has been doing some pretty extensive testing with Bass Cat

Here is a video of a holeshot with the new motor...Turn on your sound..

If Ford Motor came out with an Ecoboost outboard for my Ranger, I'd buy one!

"The new outboards not only offer better performance, they deliver that performance with the same clean, quiet smooth demeanor four-strokes are famous for and bass enthusiast, until now, only dreamed about. Whether at idle, part throttle or wide open throttle, the VMAX SHO is smoother and quieter than the VMAX Series 2. Because it's a four stroke, there is minimal smoke or odor."

What fun is that?  I want my outboard loud & rude, with a lumpy idle like a big block Chevelle.

Hey, wait a minute; mine already does.   8)

Considering the foreign vs. U.S. debate: It's a "world" market out there today, with everyone using others parts.  But in the end, where does the money end up, here or Japan?

djkimmel

I'm sure some of the money stays here, keeping Americans in jobs, and some ends up in Japan. Just like with so many other products we all use every day.

I do understand the desire for the 'look at me' type of motor!! ;D But I'm also a conservationist so I'm thinking, get the new motor, save some money on gas and oil, pollute a little less... and just install some boom boxes playing a recording of a top fuel dragster whenever you take off ;D (but not first thing in the morning... it irritates the riparians :o)

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Bass Cat claims about 1500 dollars more than a Merc 250XS...rigged on a Cougar..
