My hope is to get one of the HB SI's before spring, just not sure if the finances are going to be there. So, in the meantime, a couple questions. I have a HB Matrix 25. I also have a Magellen Triton 400 that I use for hunting. My question is, would I get more GPS function if I got the cable to mate the two, or if I got a GPS reciever for the Matrix? What exactly would I get with either? I dont have a lakes program for the Triton, would I need one? Any help out there? I know this must seem like the stone age to most of you. Try to remember LOL

My advice.... simply get a new GPS unit.  I've not been impressed with the Matrix when operating with a GPS plugged in.  This time of year you can find many options for new GPS... often on sale for Christmas or on clearance.  Shop around.

Hooking up your hand held to the Matrix 25 will work, and give you gps function, but it's going to be a trackplotter only and not mapping.  Keep in mind the Matrix units are almost 10 years old and there have been a lot of improvements since then.  I would upgrade your unit to a gps with mapping if you can swing it.  If you go with one of the Humminbird 700 series units, then you'll be able to link it to that HB SI unit when you get one.

I saw a 757c at the Taylor Gander Mtn this afternoon for $339 and Waterfoul has (or maybe had) a sweet deal on a 997c.  Plus you can get some good deals shopping online going thru GLB.

Brian - any chance you may have some time to talk about different options or setups this wk or early next?  Jeff relayed the answers to me Tues but that seemed to lead me to more "?'s", sorry.
