Fluorocarbon or Braided For Flippin and Pitchin?

What do you guys us for flippin and pitchin? I have used Braided Line for the last few years but I am thinking about switching to Fluorocarbon. What do you think?

I use both. Depends on the situation, the lake, water clarity, the cover and the size of the average bass usually caught.

no i am using a STRIKE KING JIG!!!! I only have one Flippen and Pitchen Rod and Reel so I am in need of line that is good all over for weeds, docks, rocks.

Braid Braid Braid. I have used 80lb braid in the clearest waters around and it works fine. Normally your pitching in thick cover whether it is weeds or wood or whatever, having the braid is a huge advantage getting the fish out.

Just a thought... You can use a floro leader with braid.  I've had good results and as long as I use a double uni knot, the rig seems to hold up pretty well.

I use both but if I had to choose I would probably stay with braid.  I agree with LGMOUTH that it will work anywhere.  You can also color your braid with a magic marker to match conditions if required.  If you find yourself fishing in clear water or less then heavy cover you could always add a fluoro leader.  Double Uni is definitely the way to attach that leader.

if i only had 1 flippin stick i would have it spooled with 80lbs power pro(white) with the last 2 feet colored black,i like the 80lbs braid because of the stiffness of the line it flipps real easy and the knot strength is superior...........now the thing with braid is u have to be set up to be using it or you'll bend hooks,ripp huge holes in the fish's mouth and wreck cheap reals.......use flippin hooks (reactions innovations) i like a small( i mean small) amount of drag(u must be using a good reel to get that) so i don't rip holes in the fish's mouth,u must find what works for u,thats why i love pro fishing on tv,greg hackney is probably the best flipper on tour right now and he's using braid and being very successful with it,especially with a jig(that kind of stuff always points me in the right direction)

but i have 4 flippin sticks in my boat 2 with braid and 2 with 20lbs flourocarbon there are good uses for borh.......i suggest u buy another flippin stick

I agree w LGMOUTH. when your in a situation where you need that kinda tackle the water clarity isnt gonna matter. Your putting it right on the heads and they're not going to have time to look at your line. I would go w Power Pro. 50lbs or more all on how thick the cover is..Also make sure youve got a rod heavy enough no sense having a killer line if your rod doesnt have enough behind it to pull the fish out..

When I think of flippin and pitchin I think of braid. You need something that will pull a truck when you get 15lbs of weeds and 5lbs of fish!

There are a lot of variables here, but type of cover and your hook set are really important.  If you have a cross their eyes hookset and are using a stiff rod, you might end up breaking Fluoro on the hook set.  Fluoro just doesn't have the shock strength.

I've used 15 lb P-Line 100% Fluorocarbon on my lighter pitching rods around light cover and docks in clear water, but most of the time I have 15 lb P-Line CXX on one flippin rod and 65 lb P-Line Spectrex braid on the other.

If I had only 1 flip/pitch rod, I'd spool it up with 50 or 65 lb Spectrex so it could double as a frog rod as well.  Frogging definitely requires Spectrex braid.

I have two flippin' rods (not that I ever actually flip LOL) and to pitchin' rods; both pitchin' rods are flouro and one of the flippin' rods are flouro 17 - 25 pound test, the other flippin' rod is 50# braid.

But to answer your question, if I were only going to have one flippin'/pitchin' rod (used here in MI, where a 6-7 pounder is optomistic, I would go with 20-25 pound flouro

I use both, braid and and mono. The braid is 80lb. Power Pro Green, and the Mono is PLine 25lb. CXX Green:

The reason that I use 80lb. (I know that 25 lb. braid will work just fine) is because the heavier line is the same diameter as 20lb. mono, and it lays better on the spool, without digging into itself like thinner braid.
