Not sure if you want to try to follow Skip... might be a little more excitement than you want in your life. One wrong move and POW!!! Stuck but good or sinking maybe... There are safer options to still catch some toads.

I have to have people who draw skip sign an additional waiver... ;D

For the first of several reminders - nonboaters PLEASE bring a life jacket. Not all boaters will have 1 or 2 extras. If you do not have one, please PM me so I can be prepared somehow. Thanks.

Scott mentioned bringing his big boat.

I hope to not have to do that. Two or three per bass boat is preferable for me and maybe for most persons. Like I said, I do not mind have three, especially in this event.

It wouldn't be a problem if you need me too, I can take 8 (including myself).  I'd rather bring my bass boat (I'll take 2 co's) as I'll be home friday night from TN and already hooked-up, but not at the expense of leaving ppl at the dock.

If Skip gets his wish with the wind we can drift-n-drag tubes across the flats... ;D

at the risk of getting stuffed into another boat  - if its easier Dan - you can move me to the boaters list. If Don and I both go from 1 list to the other, that leaves 2 people needing a ride instead of 6. I have to drag my boat-seat along with me anyway cuz i can't stand up all day.

Dan,
I was wondering about measuring boards. Do we need to get the weigh style boards or just use a regular board (to the 1/8") and figure the weight after we get back to the ramp?

Read this on the SC site.    Hope my flares are still valid.

Just an FYI to everyone. I have been stopped twice by the Coast Guard already this spring, once in Ecorse last week and another yesterday near Nine Mile Road. It appears they have an initiative this year to board many boats and do complete safety checks. Make sure you are up to date on all your safety equipment, flares, life jackets, fire extinguisher, horn, etc. as well as having all your paperwork.

mikesmiph

I dont have a horn, I have a grandaughter. Will that do? Anyone tells her I said that, doesnt eat. LOL

Thanks for the update dartag. Since this is the Great Lakes, extra care is warranted. You can buy a canned horn like I have for a few bucks and have it in the boat to be legal. I can never keep a regular horn working very long and the canned horn is needed to get some of the other boaters' attention.

Please see the MDNRE Boaters Handbook for complete information on what you need. http://boat-ed.com/mi/handbook/index.htm

The catch and release board is incremented in a different scale that does not match up to 1/8 or 1/16. The marking are in between so you really need to have the Weighmaster board for the weight to be accurate and the same for everyone. You can click on the link below (not the buy button - not working on here for some reason I just found out) and zoom in to see the markings on the weight side of the board don't line up. The Weighmaster largemouth bass board also goes to 22 inches which some of you will need Saturday (and maybe more :) )

That would be a bigger pain and expense for you, I know, but get me down to maybe one doubled-up boat then - maybe two. I'm waiting to hear from one boater who has not confirmed and one person that might come back in as a boater to even things out (if both agree).

Is this okay with you dude? I will make sure there are good places for everyone to fish. Skip was kind enough to even gave me some additional places to send new people to catch some bass.

I'd be willing to take an extra if necessary.

Thanks Eric. I will note that in case it becomes necessary. We are down to 2 or 3 teams doubled up.

I have you down as willing to take 2 if it is necessary. I will assure you that you can bring your bass boat and fish in comfort. Thanks Scott!

Thanks Mike! I will remind nonboaters to bring a life jacket several times. If someone can NOT bring a life jacket, PLEASE let me know ahead of time so I know we can try to have it covered.

I will not double up anyone who does not want it. You can just PM me. Right now I have only 3 boats with 2 nonboaters. If thedude is volunteering that swings us down to only 1 boat (me - I don't mind). I am still waiting for confirmation from a couple boaters so that could change a little again. I will post a draw tonight, but if I have not heard from everyone, minor changes could still occur after I post it.

Hey, boys.  Never been on LSC before - seems like a good time for that first experience.  I'm a non-boater.

Skip Johnson

Since we have several peeps traveling with boats that dont know the lake heres todays report.
I put in 11 hours on the water.

Smallies
Inside Mile roads, 10 fow or less.
clean water, 5 degrees temp drop from last week, still good jerk bait bite and a few stroking tubes, lots of fish up to 4 1/2 lbs, 4 to 6 fow.

Outside, mile roads, 15 fow.
Cold Dirty and TERRIBLE!

Big Muskemoot and little Muskemoot Bays.
DIRTY DIRTY!
Fish are in the back of both bays in 3 fow but pushed off the beds due to a 10 degree (48) temp drop, lots of big easily spooked cruisers that will bite mepps, jerks and drop shotted worms on long casts, fish up to 3 1/2 but not many biters.

Anchor and Bouvier Bay, Terrible, cold and dirty dirty!

Largies
Metro Basin and black creek, Lots and lots of good largies to 4lbs.
Mac n Rays canals, a few largies up to 3 lbs.
Lottie dr canals, a few largies up to 3lbs.
Fairhaven canals, terrible!

Summary
Great fishing in the mile roads and metro basin, cold dirty water everywhere else.
We will have a few days of good weather this week that will definitley help it recover a little.

Go Big or Go Home!

Dan,
Here's my status.  I worked on my oil leak and never found one.  I replaced a small line from the backup reservoir and tightened the cap.  I ran it for a bit in my yard and never found a leak.  So I'm hopeful that it was just a leaky cap.  I will run the boat this week to be double sure, but I should be fine to be a boater on Saturday after all.  But please pair me up with someone who wouldn't be devastated if we had any issues.  I plan to stay in the Mile Roads.
