Took a ride through Sleepy Hollow State Park this afternoon. They are constructing a new entrance which will lead right to the boat launch. No more 3.5 mile drive. Lots of ice. It has a ways to go before its open enough to launch.

Ryan

Thats sweet! I remember looking at the plans last year, but I figured since they didn't have the money to repair that crumbling, terrible road that led to the boat launch, they wouldn't have the resources to make the new road.  This will definetly save a lot of wasted time cruising around the entire park.

Revtro

No doubt, not to mention all the gravel in the trailer and nicking the boat.  That'll be such a nice change.  Now if we could only get a 10mph speed limit!  :D

As of last  Saturday the lake was wide open. I just hope they get the docks in the water soon. It will make it a lot easier to launch and yes a 10mph speed limit would be nice. But I don't mind the no wake at least it keeps it open to gas engine rather some in Cali that only allow eletric! Best of all no jet ski's or wake board boats!

Ryan, they never planned to repair the road. The original plan was to move the ramp to the other side of the lake, next to the beach. Then they decided to leave the ramp where it is, now, and make a dedicated entrance on that side of the park.

The plan, all along was to tear out the road from the beach to the gate on the main road (where the night entrance comes in), and let that section of the park land (in between) go fallow.

That was why they never paved it. Money was never the issue.

At ~400 acres, no wake is fine on that lake imo. Great lake!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Wow, that is really interesting.  It just baffled me as to why they weren't repairing that road for like 3 seasons, but that actually makes a lot of sense.  I'm definetly not going to miss that slow cruise through the park.  Thanks for the info, Vince.

What's with the news these days on the TV and the radio. Can't find the truth amongst the lies. Some talking head that claims to live their life in a better way, says I have to compromise. But now there's something on the rise. Truth has opened up my eyes. There's no running from your dirty lies. You can't avoid the truth. I'll no longer close my eyes.

Having never caught a muskie, I was also.  Lt. Dan complains about all the toothy critters robbing his baits.  I wouldn't mind throwing a cheap one out there and have at it.

I know........... they probably only like $15-20 lures....
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

I can testify that they love Rattletraps and Cotton Cordell Lipless baits in the spring. So don't throw the Lucky Crafts!!

djkimmel

And fat shallow diver crank baits!! They aren't picky about brand or price. Equal opportunity eaters... I do think I only lost 3 crankbaits last year... but I fished differently a lot last year because last year was weird out there.

Oh... the muskies like spinnerbaits too! And stick worms. And creature baits... help.
