Is orchard lake a good fishing lake?  My work headquarters are close by and I have to go over there a couple times per year.  Might have to take the boat along next time if it is a good place to go.

best bet is to take some fish with you.   that lake should be called Tortured Lake.   I have seen weeknight events were 2 fish win.   One time they had to raffle off 4th place money.    pretty lake though.

check NBAA weeknight results you will see.

Manxfishing

It's not a bad lake at all

Right now
Everybody is beating the shallow fish up with spinner baits and rattle traps

Let me know if you still got an open seat.

Got Fish??

Orchard lake is not a bad lake. Sometimes i't's on sometimes it's not. You need to go fish it and see for your self. I have hit some nice fish there. You just have to find them.

djkimmel

They must be right out in the middle...??

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I got a report from a good friend that he is catching a ton of gills over by the church using leaf worms and tiny tubes under a bobber.

Good luck.

Orchard Lake is a body of water that you have to fish many times before you get consistent.  Since I have learned the lake, I haven't really had a bad day there.  You can catch fish but they may not all be keeps.  One I learned where the bigger fish hung out and how to position the boat on the spots, I just got more and more consistent in the size of fish I can catch there.  Fish it and fish it and fish it.  Don't be discouraged if you don't do well.  You will have to fish it many, many times before you get it down.  Some will never get it down.  It is not always my first choice anyway even though I usually do pretty good there. During the week it is one of my choices as it is close and easy to get to after work.  Good Luck and don't ever quit.

Clearly I haven't put in enough time on Orchard. I have caught mostly dinks, sometimes to the point of frustration. I've had days when they are really biting but I couldn't seem to find one over 10 inches.

Our club fished there today and it was a good day for most of us.  We caught good numbers and plenty of keepers.  There are lots of 10 inch Largemouth though.  The bigger fish seemed hit and miss.  Jerkbaits were the key today for the guys I talked to today.  Certainly for us.  It's not really that tough of a lake at all I don't think.  I've only been there twice and have done pretty well both times.  I'm sure there are tough days out there.  I had such a good time, I may return very soon.  I really enjoyed Orchard.  I will say this though... at least for today, the fish were found in one side of the lake pretty much.  So I wouldn't spend much time in one area.  Keep moving till you locate signs of life.  From what I saw today, in about 2 weeks that lake should be rockin.  Fun fun fun.
