I have almost everything I planned on buying this year complete. Except for the keel guard I want to buy. Anyway, I was at Gander Mountain today and I was going to buy a Golden Rule to measure with (I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about). But they had two different brands. Not sure what one to buy I looked at them both and set them side by side.  THEY WERE 3/16 DIFFERENT! Any links on one that is Guaranteed to be accurate? I am a machinist and should just make one. But I would like to have one that everyone else has for consistency. Any tips or links?

I own several and know what your talking about, Im currently using a golden rule that also has the weight conversion for LM bass on it, I compared it to the bump board at a BFL and theirs was allmost a 1/16 in shorter, Im ok with that cuz I know if they touch my boards line then Im ok...but I did make a note on my board with a permanent marker just in case I realy am desperate for that small of a fish.

p.s. get that keel guard, it sure does come in handy, I hardley ever use the docks....I just pull up on the concrete ramp...plus they realy help to break ice with ;)

Thats a good deal.  I dont think Gander in Grand Rapids even carries them.  I seen one at West Marine but thats about it.  Plus, if I dont clip my boat when loading and it slides off the trailer I should be ok :D.

I'm still not sure about the rule...  I bet I threw back over a dozen fish that were about an 1/8'' short last year. Well I think they were short, I dunno now!

Got Fish??

I have a golden rule. The measuring device used by NBAA is slightly longer and a different color than my golden rule. Always check with the directors before you lunch for a termanent. To make sure your both on the same page. Make sure mouth is closed and don't put your finger under the fish.

i fish about 3-4 differant trails a year. they use 2 differant rulers.most go with the golden rule others use the black/smoke colored plastic ruler.. most tournys state what device they use to measure with...

I've always just used the one I got from Redman many years ago. If I have a bass that is super close, I check it on their courtesy board most have available. Not had a problem doing that.

I also have the Golden Rule Largemouth Bass with the weigh conversion on it that most paper tournaments use. Pretty much only use it during the paper tournaments. Don't fish many of those other than the one for this web site.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
