Went to Wixom Lake for the new opener on Saturday morning.? Within the first 5 minutes I had already boated 2 nice smallies protecting beds.? Biggest looked to be probably 2-1/2 lbs.? As I worked down into the cut, the temp was warming from 57d at the start to a balmy 59.5d a the back and the beds were plentiful.? Further in this cut I boated 2 more smallies, 1 that had to go 3-1/2 lbs.? There were many fish in here, not all of them catchable..someone must have tipped them off that a red ChampioN would be stopping by to tug on their lips a bit...when they saw me they ran and ran hard!? oh well, plenty that didn't understand the warnings and got a jaw realignment!?I pretty much stuck to 2 or 3 cuts looking for beds.? Tubes, Senkos, and a white swimming jig were my successful baits.? Boated 6, had 2 come unbuttoned, and saw an additional 20+ bass near beds.? Not all were locked on and it appeared that alot of them were bucks, I'll probably make another stop there in a week or so.?

I will say way in the back of one of the visited cuts sits a tree/bush overhanging the water, protecting a little area from flying lures and other predators, under and around this bush sits 2 largemouth, that easily apporach if not exceed 4.5lbs...they consumed me for a total of almost 1.5 hours broken up into 4 different stops..? they beat me, they roughed me up slapped me with their tails and laughed in my face, if anybody gets to these fish and hooks them, give them an extra hookset from me..never have i sepnt so much time on 2 fish..never...i wouldn't have spent the time there either if every 10-15 casts they hadn't shown interest..they sucked me in and had their fun...green fish rule and i drool!? :-\'

Are you coming up this weekend?
My club has a paper tourny there this weekend.
I'll be up there Sat. and Sun. Tourny is on Sun. (Only eight boats)
Thanks for the inside info, on the beds.
I gotta buddy that's going to get two days of practice up there.
It'll be neat to see if he's going to share this info or keep it to himself.

The warm spring kinda messed up our plan to fish for pre-spawn fish
instead of bedders this year.

We almost always go to Hardy Dam the second or third week in May and
just kill em on beds. We were going to do something different this year.

Maybe I'll see you up there.

i'll probably run out there for a while on Saturday, just to punish myself on those 2 largemouth again!

Sounds like you're talking about Elvis and Buddy... they've been spawning there for years...
