Too far north (Hamlin) and too weird (Macatawa). I think we should go to White. Just waiting for a few answers so I can pick a date.

You do know Dan that Hamlin is near Ludington which is the home of House of Flavors Ice Cream. Their Hokey Pokey sundae- butter pecan, hot fudge, hot caramel, whipped cream and loaded with salty, crunchy, pecan halves is hard to beat. In fact, it is my favorite ice cream joint.
It's not that my cabin is also near Irons that I mention this lake. It's just a super lake with multi species.

Doesn't Hamlin have a very nice state campground with a launch? Would be pretty cool to get a bunch of campsites next to each other ;D. I can smell burnt marshmallows and stale beer already!!!

Dan

Yep, it has a very nice state park. It also has some nice campgrounds on the north end as well.

I thought White was just fine on the that weekend, Heck I think White is good everyday. OK Hamlin is alright too. Sept is going to be hard for me to make this year but Im going to try no matter where it is.
When you are in any contest you should work as if there whereto the very last minute a chance to loose it.

I DEFINITELY need to stay away from Hamlin then!! I'm diabetic as of the past couple years so (fun fun fun)... if I didn't know better I would think you are trying to kill me!?! Just reading about it makes me feel light-headed and faint...

Too many members want to head up in the morning to make such a long drive real fair in my mind to many. Maybe in the future it will make more sense.

Nah, I would drive to Hamlin or wherever if the dates work out just surprised me with how many guys never want to fish White again because it was tough. What are you talking about with the wild card?
FISH HARD!!!

Dan

Hey Tim,
I'll mail your goodies out for winning the Tear Drop Fantasy League. It's not much, but better than a sharp stick in the eye. By the way I'm going to be fishing White on Monday and having never been there, and with your expertise, a PM with some spots to try wouldn't hurt.

I know a lot of you were disgusted by White, but it really is a fun lake.  You guys came over on a BAD weekend, unless your name is Don W.  I'm heading there tomorrow morning, and I'm looking forward to it.  Besides, the DK Opens are for fun, not big money and prizes.

djkimmel

I understand people want to catch a lot of bass too. The fishing should be better next month.

Looks like the west side schedule is even tighter than normal. No real good date so it looks like the slightly lesser than all evils for equipment and timing will be Saturday, September 11, 2010 on White Lake.

So, is that the official announcement?  I think I'm the only one looking forward to this.

djkimmel

No. You aren't the only one. There'll be a few more of us there looking forward to catching some bass (and pike and dogfish).

I'll make the official post late tomorrow or Monday after I double confirm a few material details that are already initially confirmed. But you can never be too careful.

I am excited for this as well - it wouldn't matter if it was on Lake Lansing it would still be fun (well that might be stretching it!)  White is fun because most everyone will catch fish and have the opportunity to catch 23 lb bags - White was fishing bad a few weeks ago due to the HOT water temps and algae bloom, come Sept. 11 it will be back to its 20+ sack form.  Believe or not (I don't know if I do until I see pics) but supposedly someone in a live bait tourney this past weekend out of Muskegon ran up to White and brought in a 8.2 lb giant - fact or fiction who knows but it is possible on that pig factory.

Who's holding live bait tournaments where you even run? Just curious.
