Coming up to start practice this week and I am staying at the Sterling State Park....Question is the days I want to fish St Clair should I put in the river and drive up or is it better to trailer the boat up there?  If so what boat landings on the west shore do you recommend.  It looks to be a long drive is there anything up that way to stay over night for a few days if I choose too?

Thanks

There are a bunch of hotels/motels along 13 mile rd. in Roseville. The St. Jeans launch is in the upper end of the Detroit River but if you plan to fish mainly the mile road area I would launch at the DNR ramp at 15 1/2 mile on Jefferson, AKA the Clinton River cut-off. You can find directions and maps to the launches at: http://www.michiganbassfishingtour.com/Home/launch-sites

You can find a list of motels at: http://www.michiganbassfishingtour.com/Home/lodging

Good Luck

Don't drive your bass boat up the Detroit River and back on the weekend unless you have too! Boat traffic can make it extremely rough going through the monster mile - past the RenCen. The roads are a little less rough on your trailer than the water is on your boat.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
