I'm looking to upgrade my drop shot rod and am looking for a little input.  I can't spend $250 on a rod but do you guys have any suggestions for around $100

Right now I am using a 6'6 ml Falcon with medium action that i have used for years but I am curious what a true design drop shot rod will do.  I upgraded a few years back to an All Star tube rod and absolutely love it.

Thanks Fellas...

i use a dobyns 7 foot medium fast action rod. The savvy series starts at 150 but you will be glad you spent the extra 50 dollars it is really a great rod for the money.

Waterfoul

In that same $150 range don't overlook a Shimano Crucial.  Several of my buddies are fishing them and love em.  My girlfriend is learning to drop shot on my "backup" Crucial... a 7' Medium rod with a fast tip.  Very light, very sensitive.
Addicted to fishing.  All the time, any species, anywhere!!  Especially in West Michigan!!!

Powell  703 CEF   7 ft very light but strong.  Bought mine 2 years ago and use them probably 90% of the time i fish.  retail 139.00 i think.

I have been using a Quantum KVD 7 foot drop-shot rod.  They run around $100.  I like it as it serves its purpose.  I also use a lot of other techniques with that rod as it can be used for about anything or any technic when fishing plastics.  I have fished Carolina and Texas rigs on it as well as drop shot, small cranks, small jigs, small spinner baits, smaller size top waters, etc., etc., etc.

When are you going to buy? Soon? This summer yet? Fall? If you are going to wait a while, you could try out the Grandt rods at the Novi show in January and get show pricing. Just in case you're not in a hurry. :)

grandts are great - cant be beat ..... next favorite is $150 with life time over the counter BPS warranty - the 6'8 shimano crucial ft med is by far the best DS or Tube  rod for your money. Dont quibble over $50. GET A LIFETIME WARRANTY as good as Grandt or the BPS Shimano over the counter. Cant say it enough, pay for the quality, pay for the warranty. Ive am soooooo hard on rods, and Ive returned 4 rods now this year - most my fault - but think of it - you get the absolutely most sensitive, best backbone that lets you slow play monster smallies so they just wear themselves out, and if you lose a fish its cause YOU got sloppy. That 6'8" is GOD and you cant get a better rod for $300 than the crucial.
Thanks Dan for bringing year round Catch and Release to Michigan

2 words: Grandt Rods.  I love my 6'6" All American Med Lite.  Great backbone...and great sensitivity for just over $100 with the GLB discount.  My next couple of new rods WILL be Grandt Rods.  Nuff said.

A few people did not tell Grandt Rods that they were GreatLakesBass.com members, so they did not get the full discount. It's very important to thank the companies that make this site possible when you can. And sometimes it pays.

I will explain more soon why this is more important to the site now than ever. I sure greatly appreciate those of you who do consider the companies that make this site possible. And especially those of you who mention GreatLakesBass.com as one reason why you did so!! Thanks!
