Which braid do you use and why?

I was reading one of the drop shot threads and noticed a lot of you use the power pro. I have never tried it but have used the spider wire, stren super braid and a couple of others. The only one I've ever really cared for is the super braid because it doesn't seem as stiff as the others I've tried but I can't always find that everywhere. And it seems to color fade quite a bit IMO. What's the good and the bad about the power pro...........cost??? What others do you guys use that you like. And what ones don't you like and why?

Waterfoul

Power Pro.  No reason necessary.  Try it you'll see.
Addicted to fishing.  All the time, any species, anywhere!!  Especially in West Michigan!!!

I use P-Line braid, 60lb, for froggin. That is the only braid I use. I have never had any problems.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Peace.
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

I still use mono.  I just never really could get into braid.  I tried it and it was more hassle than it was worth.  I have not tried any flourocarbon lines or any other "super line" for that matter.  I have been very satisfied with the mono I have been using for the last 10 years and really don't feel the need to change now.  I may someday get curious and try something flouro but I just don't know what that is right now.  I have been asking opinions of anglers that use the stuff and get a different answer every time.  I guess that is why I haven't switched or even tried it.

I am kind of along the same lines as Hooksetter.

You said you were reading one of the drop shot threads. I am assuming that you are considering braid for drop shotting with a flouro leader.
IF... that is the case, then I have had the best luck with fire-line, because it has less drag resistance in the water than power pro. The actual test was done on the Detroit River Walleye jigging. I had 10 lb power pro and my buddy had 14 lb fire-line. We were standing side by side on the front of the boat. He was vertical and I was dragging behind. (Yes... same size weight)
I have never tried the Stren super braid drop shotting.

I do, however, fish as much slop as I can. I LOVE froggin and flippin. I have used the stren, fire line and power pro. Castability is the biggest factor for me when it comes to braid. For that, if it isn't round then it's not even a consideration.
Then, longevity is next. I find that I can use power pro much much longer than some of the other round braids before it breaks down to the point where every other cast is a half cast with an abrupt stop. If you've had this problem, it's not your reel.
I hope this helps.

I use only P-Line Spectrex IV. Best quality. Great castability. I was one of the few who didn't break 80 lbs test super line on those vicious peacock bass in Brazil. I can't believe the others did, but they did. I use all of their sizes for various techniques.

And, P-Line sponsors this forum. So many good reasons. No bad ones.

PS: Funny, I posted this reply and looked up there in the top left and the Spectrex IV box was showing! :)

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
