They just had one Kent Lake event yesterday. I don't think that is the last one though. Here's one: http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?topic=8729.0

The Last Chance on Cass is usually the last Sunday in October. I haven't heard from the guys who put it on yet. Don't know if they will do it on the 31st for sure.

chiller thriller is sat oct 30 and last chance is sun oct 31

the event held this past saturday was just a throw together open that dave wilson put on.  8 boats show up.  i hear it took 16.76 to win.

cameraguy and I were out there on Kent for a half day Friday - first time this year. We didn't put too much hurt on anyone's spot. He got a nice one near the end, but I think we only caught 3 other small keepers and a lot of little guys.

its been weird out there.  in the last month, the patterns and locations of the quality fish have changed several times.  4 weeks ago we were getting them good with deeper crankbaits, then they moved shallow and shallow crankbaits, jigs, and plastics were the ticket.  saturday they moved back out deep and again the deeper cranks were working and there was also somewhat of a jerkbait bite.

smallies are still tough but if you can figure out exact size, color, and cadence of topwater they want in the morning, you might catch one.  2 if your lucky.  3 if your good.  i cant get them.  they like to blow up multiple times on the bait im throwing, then jump all the way out of the water 6" behind my bait, at which point i set the hook hard enough to relocate my bait to the opposite side of the boat as far as the amount of line out will allow.

low light: jigs have been really working.

sun up:  jigs suck

gotta work for them right now, but if you can figure them out you have my respect cuz i am usually better for smallmouth out there than largies but the largies are the only fish that will play for me right now, and for pretty much the last 3 monthes.

here is a pic of the bag we had sat.  october and only 1 smallmouth.  its been too warm for them to really turn on yet.  water temp on kent was 57 in the am, i didnt pay attention to what it was the rest of the day.  smallies should start turning on once it drops below 55...........i hope, i hope, i hope.

BTW, i know im not a tall man, but this picture is some kind of photo voodoo.  we were standing on the slant of the boat ramp so it makes me look like im 5 feet tall.  its kinda embarrassing.   ::)

Nice bag Brian. I fished Friday and Sunday at Upper Straits and the water temp was 64-66. The LM were tearing up the cranks and the smallies were hard to find. Only caught two. I agree that they are waiting for the cool down to go further.
