I got a request a little different than my normal email requests that I get. This one is obviously from someplace foreign and possibly middle or far Eastern. It is saltwater related so I would have to do some homework and even then maybe not give a real good answer. I could reply and say I don't know much about it, but I like to help people and I thought maybe some of you might be able to offer a little advice. Here's the request:

"im looking for your help by advising me for a fishing rod and reels combo used for the following:
on shore salt water fishing.
has long casting feature
gears depend on you
i prefer spinning reels
type fishing will be mostly for black bream to medium size fish .
should be used the latest technology, new models better (very important point).
sinker depends on the place, in shell water or calm water 1 gram but in deep see, strong tides and wave will reach to 8
our climates is extremely hot (45deg. during summer, dusty weather)
we use live bites such as shrimp or fish
finally the price should not exceed usd 1000 on both
"

45 degrees Celsius is about 113 degrees Fahrenheit. Youch!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Dan,
One of the most popular all around line classes in salt water is 12lb spin.
Especially for on shore fishing.
I recommend the following combination for the use described.
He will pay plenty in shipping so this combo should meet his needs.

Grandt XS170MHF - 7' XLH70 Medium Heavy Action
Pflueger Supreme XT = Model 9040XT

What's with the news these days on the TV and the radio. Can't find the truth amongst the lies. Some talking head that claims to live their life in a better way, says I have to compromise. But now there's something on the rise. Truth has opened up my eyes. There's no running from your dirty lies. You can't avoid the truth. I'll no longer close my eyes.

Shimanos stradic is great in salt water also. 6000 or 8000 probably is best. 12 is fairly common. I use 20 but last time I was down there I caught a tarpon on accident using a 4000 and they don't hold enough line. It spooled me in about 5 seconds. Grant is definatley the rod to use. You can't beat the warranty
