Broke one of my Powell rods.  Shipped it in 23.00 for shipping,  and a check for 40.00 processing fee.  Got a new rod in about a week.

Been sitting home today reading other companys policies.

Grandt is 25.00 processing fee.  you pay shipping to them.

St Croix is 20.00 processing fee if rod is registered.   50.00 if not.  you pay shipping to them.
Kistler site does not mention a fee.

Anyone know what Bass Pro, Gander Mountain or Cabelas policy is.   can you take there rods to the store for exchange?  Can't find anything on there sites.

I only have experience with two companies in regards to warranties.

Loomis is $50.  They send you a new rod, and pay shipping for the new one to you, and the old one back to them.

St. Croix offers lifetime warranties on the Legends, and the Avids.  The other lines have a shorter warranty.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

Rick,   I thought Loomis changed all of the rod warrantys  ? to 100.00 dollars I could be wrong ?  Has anyone sent one back in awhile ?

shimano - they will tell you to break it into little pieces so it's cheaper to ship, then they send you a new one free.  i think it cost me 6 or 7 bucks to ship to them.

BPS, over the counter but its not lifetime.  I always ask for the manager, Nikki something, just because shes hot

Durand Dan

I've never had a problem exchanging a rod or reel at BPS. Good products a good prices.

dartag

got this from the Loomis site.  guess you don't know how much till you send it in.

The GLoomis factory will inspect the rod to determine cause of breakage

For Damage determined to have occurred due to defect, GLoomis will, at the company's discretion, either repair or replace the product at no charge

Damages occurring due to neglect, accident or normal wear and tear will, at the company's discretion, be repaired or replaced for a specific fee.

A full estimate will be provided for your approval before any fees are levied

I have exchanged 3 Shimano Cumara rods at BPS one for one with no issues.....I have heard that exchanging them at the retailer has gotten tougher....

I have never had an issue exchanging rods at BPS....One for one...

I have been buying a few Loomis rods and have heard that there expedite service has changed...You use to be able to call them and they would send you a new rod and you just put your old rod in the tube and give it back to the shipper....Obviously that has changed..
There was alot of fraud going on with loomis rod owners breaking their rods in order to get a new one for 30 bucks...

For me part of the price of a premium rod is the warranty...If the warranties get out of line I will look for a new manufacturer or go with less expensive rods....

High end quantum rods have a life time warranty. Pay to ship them and get a new rod in about 2 weeks. Even if one of the eyes break off they will send you a new rod.

The $25 fee for Grandt is actually the shipping cost back to you they are charging you for. If you bring the rods to a show, you can skip the shipping cost. Great if you can wait and they have a show near you. The Novi show date is one week later this year so Grandt is already scheduled in another state that weekend.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I actually bought 2 Grandts beccause of the warranty for 2 reasons.  1 - I can wait for the show and exchange it free, $7 cheaper than if I had to return a Shimano, and 2- The warranty is for anything, not just manufacturer defect.  This solves my "car door breakage" issue.  I plan on replacing them all with Grandt in the future.

There is a big difference between a warranty that reads "UNCONDITIONAL LIFETIME" and warranties the use words such as "Limited Lifetime" "Company or Retailer Discretion"  etc. etc.  It is smart to read the warranty thuroughly prior to your purchase if you feel that the warranty is an important part of your purchase. I must confess that the Grandt warranty has saved me close to $1000.00

What's with the news these days on the TV and the radio. Can't find the truth amongst the lies. Some talking head that claims to live their life in a better way, says I have to compromise. But now there's something on the rise. Truth has opened up my eyes. There's no running from your dirty lies. You can't avoid the truth. I'll no longer close my eyes.
