High Visz Yellow

Got a friend that is interested in using some high visz yellow line. Anybody got any suggestions? I've never used any before.

I've used Power Pro and Fireline for jigging Walleyes.  Works pretty well, and in the Detroit River, I don't think they see it very well.  It aids in line watching when trying to stay vertical.

I tried it a couple of years ago for Bass.  I thought it would help me see my line. Which it did.  I tried it with a Fluoro leader of a couple of feet or so.    I was not happy with the number of fish I caught with it on.  I may not have given it a fair chance, because I didn't leave it on for very long.  I quickly went back to the green Power Pro.

My drop shot and senko rods have yellow hi-vis Power Pro on them.  Sure helps see those bites you don't feel.  I run about 6' of floro leader on both... a must.

I used it on a my pitching setup last year.  It did help me see the line better and I used a black marker to color a couple feet of the line to cut down on the visibility for the fish.

I would highly reccommend Powerpro.  I use yellow 65# PP for flipn and punchn heavy cover exclusively.  I would use white if I could ever find it cause the yellow stuff just turns white anyways...

 how heavy for plastics? hula grub-type and also the tubes too..thanks guys..karol

I use power pro 10 lb, I think it's 2lb diameter, on all my spinning rods, which I use for tubes, drop shottin, and small plastics. Then I tie about a 6 foot 10lb. fluorocarbon leader with a double uni knot. I trim the fluorocarbon tag line as close to the knot as I can, to prevent it from hanging up in the rod eyes. If you want to get crazy, you can supper glue the knot, but I don't think it helps much.

I can speak for Mike on this one - we use Crucial's (and higher) also. I'm sold on the yellow now for about all plastics fishing. Especially in low light, windy or rainy conditions, etc when std. line is hard to see.

I would say this applies more to the senko than any other bait I throw.  I'm throwing my senkos on a 6'10" St. Croix Legend Medium fast rod.  Very sensitive.  But I'll tell you what, I can't count the time that I skipped a senko up under a dock or pontoon boat and saw the line move WAY before I ever felt the bite.  As for the drop shot, I throw that on a 7'2" Cumara Medium extra fast rod, and every so often I will get a bite on the way down that just doesn't register on the rod tip... yet I can see it in the line.  Not often, but it does happen.

I'd go so far as to say I see more bites than I feel. But I guess that's not hard when you get as few bites as I do....

I'm not big on throwing senkos, but I agree.  A lot of times you see the line jump.  I still prefer to use flouro for that kinda stuff, but it also is a factor for flipn I think.  A lot of times you flip in somewhere and you just see your line jump or stop before it should.  I like a visible braid for this so I can see it. Green PP is very hard to see with a mostly green background from trees and stuff like that...

wow - thn I guess Im really missin fish ? So outside the Tube and DS on LSC, for soft plastics,, jigs, punching, go with the 65 lb power pro ?

For me, if I'm casting a bait I'm usen flouro...if I'm punchn I'm usen 65# PP. My punchn setup usually contains a 7'6" flippn stick, a pegged 1oz. Trutungston flippn weight, punch skirt, and a 4" beaver on a 5/0 BMF hook.

Lo vis green.  That's what I use.  I don't want the fish to get line shy because something stands out and does not look natural.  I have learned that everyone has a preference for something.  And for every different types of fishing line out on the market, there are many more opinions from the people that use them.
