Just in! ;D

The GreatLakesBass.com forum now features automatic video embedding for some of the more popular video hosting services. You can now show the video in your posts on the forum just by pasting in the general default video URL from the services below.

If the video player does not appear in Preview mode or after you Post your topic, then there is a problem with the URL you provided or that particular service is not supported.

For Youtube, you want to provide the direct, simple URL for the video (not a channel version or some type of promoted or otherwise adjusted code - some adjusted code might still work, just depends what has been added in what order:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfDcwe0d7

For Facebook example, Facebook often throws extra information they using into their links that will cause the auto-embedding not to work. Here's an example of a video linked from a fan page that won't work because of the '/#!' thrown in the middle:
http://www.facebook.com/#!/video/video.php?v=1421099627821

To fix it, all you have to do is delete anything that is not facebook.com and /video/video.php?v=12345videoID - the '/#!' in this case so you end up with:
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1421099627821

Vimeo uses generally short, simple URL's - for example:
http://www.vimeo.com/20602861
See an example of the video output for this link at the end of this post.

The online video streaming services that should automatically embed in your post at this time are:
College Humor       DailyMotion
ESPN                Facebook
Google Video        Metacafe
MySpace             Tinypic.com
Twitvid             Vimeo
Yahoo               Youtube

Here's that Vimeo video automatically embedded in this post just by copying in the above URL:

Hope you like it and if you have a video service you frequent and like, and think might have videos that would make sense to be able to be embedded on GreatLakesBass.com, send me the video service name and I can see if it is available to be added.

Note: If you find a video on the GreatLakesBass.com Video Service that you want to point out on the forum, you can do that fairly easily since the service is Powered by Youtube.

Copy the URL of the video you like such as:
http://www.greatlakesbass.com/vid/video/SnRjaZfswy8/Ryan-Said-First-Two-Bass-of-the-2011-Bassmaster-Classic.html

The 11-digit Youtube ID code is part of the URL on the GreatLakesBass.com Video Service. It would be SnRjaZfswy8 in the above example.

All you have to do is paste that ID code at the end of the default Youtube video url of:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=

So you end up with the following for this particular video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnRjaZfswy8

Paste that URL into your post and you get:

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
Unless clearly stated as such, opinions expressed by Dan Kimmel on this forum are not the opinions or policies of The Bass Federation of Michigan.
