Due to low water levels on the Great Lakes, particularly Lake St. Clair, the mouth of the channel at the Michigan DNR Clinton River Cutoff ramp (Crocker) needs to be dredged. Some boats have been getting stuck on the way in or out.

Per MDNR Parks Metro District Manager Mike Terrell, they are planning to dredge the canal. They have reserved a long reach excavator and loader. Currently, they are working on getting the paperwork drawn up and pushed through procurement.
As soon as that is complete and the equipment delivered, he estimates the work can be completed in two to three days. The ramp may need to close for one of those days. Mike reports that all the DNR ramps along the St. Clair River and Lake St. Clair have low water levels right now.
