On September 10, 2011 fishermen of all ages and skill levels will take to the water at Belleville Lake in Belleville, Michigan for a day of fishing, fun and giving back. The 2011 “Catch for a Cause” fishing derby, dinner and raffle will once again benefit Hospice of Michigan. The goal for 2011 is to raise $10,000.

“Hospice of Michigan was an easy choice for our fundraiser”, said Lance Valentine, founder of the Flint, Michigan based corporation Lance Valentine’s Walleye 101, which is sponsoring the event. “The program we are helping gives Hospice care to anyone regardless of their condition or ability to pay. The nice thing about working with Hospice is almost everyone can put a face on a Hospice worker-we have almost all been touched by one of these great people and it is our honor to help them.”

Prizes consisting of raffle tickets will be awarded for fish in 5 different categories, but the big winner of the day will be Hospice of Michigan. Every penny raised from derby entries, banquet tickets, raffle ticket sales and donations will go directly to Hospice of Michigan. “This is an organization that will affect everyone’s life at some point. Hospice of Michigan needs lots of help to do what they do and we are glad to help” added Dean Cushman, one of the event coordinators.

The fishing derby is a fun event, designed to involve families. “Even if you are a beginner, pro or somewhere in between this event will be a great time of fishing, family, fellowship and fund raising”, stated Fishing Derby Director Larry Billings. “Just come out and have a good time, eat some food and help a great cause.”
